2010 Heart of Gold Auction – Windows to the World.
Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Addison. 5:30pm until 12:00am. Live and Silent auction with the band Last Man Standing for entertainment. Attire is Black Tie Optional.
The Auction began many years ago as a part of the school’s spring fair and was held in the cafeteria and parish hall. In February 2001, we branded it the MIS Heart of Gold Auction and moved the event into local hotels in hopes of encouraging outside attendance and increasing profits.
The concept was a success! Each year since then, our Auction has generated much more than the on-campus high of $32,000— we’re now raising over $200,000 net profit during our best years!
In addition to being the PTC’s largest annual fundraiser, Auction night is also a wonderful social event, attracting crowds averaging 400 guests and 60 on-site volunteers each year. These points help make the event affordable for all MIS parents:
• Auction is usually held on or close to Valentine’s Day. Most couples splurge for a Valentine dinner anyway, and the auction includes a 3 or 4 course meal…so it’s a perfect treat for your valentine!
• We offer free entry, food and fun for volunteers who work a shift on the night of Auction. The formal sit-down dinner is only included with the ticket purchase, but we have sandwiches and soft drinks available for volunteers during the evening…plus volunteers get a bidder paddle/bid stickers so they can bid on items when they are not working a shift!
• We offer discounted pricing for early turn-in of reservations.
• Limited on-site babysitting is offered again this year.
Our Auction benefits all of our children at MIS! Most of the profits made from the Auction are used by the PTC to purchase items on the Wish List or is put towards the budget to help offset the rising costs of education.
Auction planning is a year-round job…hotels reservations and solicitations begin far in advance. The Auction Chairperson and other key positions for next year’s auction are often determined immediately following the previous year’s auction.
However, this is no job for a handful of people! For our Auction to be truly successful, our school needs everyone to participate in some capacity…whether it is through donating/soliciting items, working on an auction committee or volunteering for Auction night. Join us today!
